Buenos Aires' Paula y Los Besos put out two EP's full of acoustic guitar pop. The besos on the first album are sweet, loving, and tender, while the besos on the second are bittersweet and melancholic.
EP one features a cover of T. Rex’s “Cosmic Dancer” titled “Bailar,” while the sequel has two covers: Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” (“Pozo De Fuego”) and Robert Wyatt’s “Free Will And Testament” (“Libre”).
I threw together a little mix featuring all the artists that are featured on Daft Punk's forthcoming album Random Access Memories. I had to cut a couple of tracks (Paul Williams, Chilly Gonzales) because it ran kind of longer than I cared for it to.
Anyhow, enjoy! (Cover art by No Moda)

I didn't take in too many documentaries last week at the Newport Beach Film Festival, but one that I did see and enjoy was Love, Marilyn.
Drawing on never-before-seen personal papers, diaries and letters, director Liz Garbus works with acclaimed actors to evoke the multiple aspects of the real Marilyn. Elizabeth Banks, Ellen Burstyn, Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Jennifer Ehle, Lindsay Lohan, Lili Taylor, Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood each appear on screen to enact Marilyn’s words.

One of the films I enjoyed at at the Newport Beach Film Festival was Greetings from Tim Buckley. The story follows a young Jeff Buckley rehearses for his public singing debut at a Brooklyn tribute show for his father, the late folk singer Tim Buckley. Struggling with the legacy of a man he barely knew, Jeff begins to discover the powerful potential of his own musical voice.

I caught Rafa Lara's Cinco de Mayo: La Batalla at the Newport Beach Film Festival last week. The story chronicles Mexico's Battle of Puebla, holding off a French army that had them outnumbered. I do believe this is one of the biggest budget Mexican films I've ever seen
The film is currently screening in select cities. No word yet on wide range release date.
