{Ponyo on the Cliff}
Hayao Miyazaki is one of the great filmmakers of all time...so if you only see one animated film this year, Ponyo on the Cliff might be your best bet!
Ponyo on the Cliff looks a little more lighthearted and kid friendly than his last few films...more on par with My Neighbor Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service. The film has also got a celeb heavy cast for the English voiceover (Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin and more). The film is written and directed by master animator Hayao Miyazaki, maker of Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle.
Disney is bringing Ponyo on the Cliff (the Japanese title), now known as just Ponyo, to theaters everywhere August 14th.
The film is described as an animated adventure centered on a 5-year-old boy and his relationship with a goldfish princess who longs to become human.
