{CH Christmas Gift Guide}

It's that time of year again, so quite procrastinating and get a jump on that X-Mas list! Here's some fun and inexpensive ideas to get you in the spirit...and all without even having to get up off your seat!

{Edible Shot Glasses}

Drink in the New Year and then eat the evidence with these fun Edible Shot Glasses.

Order from Perpetual Kid

{Tom Perotta}

From the author of Little Children and Election comes The Abstinence Teacher, which exposes the emotions that run beneath the surface of the modern American family life and explores the complex spiritual and sexual lives of ordinary people.

Listen to an Mp3 from the audio book and order from here.

{Diana Camera by Lomo}

The Diana, considered a toy by some and the simplest camera by art school students is making a comeback. The Diana has been out of production for over 25 years, until recently.

Originally produced in hong kong in the 1960's the diana has become a cult classic, known for producing soft and dreamy images due to light leakage. A light, inexpensive medium (120 film) format camera, the 'new' diana has 4 f-stops and comes with a booklet, camera strap and lens cover. An additional change is that the camera has a removable lens, allowing for pinhole camera action!

Order from Unica Home.

{Marcel Dzama Ghost Salt & Pepper Shakers}

Marcel Dzama's whimsical Sad Ghost Salt & Pepper shakers would make a nice addition to anyone's place.

Order here.

{Steve Martin's Born Standing Up}

This is a memoir, but is also an illuminating and funny guidebook from an insightful stand-up comic.

Read an excerpt here.

Read Three Bonus Deleted Passages from Steve Martin's Born Standing Up (On Returning to Disneyland, On Meeting Diane Hall, and On the Kennedy Assassination) and purchase a copy from Amazon or order the audio book from iTunes.

{Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!)}

Looking for some laugh-out-loud reading (or listening)? Then Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!) is just what Caffeine-Headache prescribes.

Listen to some hilarious audio clips and order from Amazon.

{Night on Earth}

Have a film snob for a friend? A DVD from The Criterion Collection usually does the trick. This recently released '90s arthouse film by Jim Jaramusch. Criterion’s impeccable standards of quality and high-def transfer always do film's justice.

Order from Criterion Collection.

That last DVD a bit too modern for you? Lindsay Anderson’s If.… is an anarchic vision of British society, set in a boarding school in late-sixties England. Before Kubrick made A Clockwork Orange, Malcolm McDowell made quite an impression as Mick Travis, who, along with his school chums, trumps authority at every turn, finally emerging as violent savior against the games of one-upmanship played by both students and the powers that be. The film artfully mixes color and black-and-white as audaciously as it mixes fantasy and reality, If…. has a climatic conclusion that will undoubtedly bring the events at Columbine to mind.

{Adrian Tomine Optic Nerve series}

I'm currently obsessed with Adrian Tomine. I really enjoyed his latest graphic novel Shortcomings and I want to checkout some of his Optic Nerve graphic novels (some of which are out of print). If you haven't read any of Tomine's stories then now is a good time to start!

Read a preview of Shortcomings here or preview some of his other works here.

{Surburban Glamour}

Suburban Glamour is the new full color, four-issue Image Comics miniseries by Phonogram co-creator Jamie McKelvie. Writer-artist Jamie McKelvie told CBR News "I've been describing it as Chynna Clugston's 'Blue Monday' meets Jim Henson's 'Labyrinth'".

Read some passages and order the graphic novel here.

{Death Bed The Bed that Eats}

Looking for something ridiculous? Possibly a white elephant gift? It doesn't get any more ridiculious than Death Bed The Bed that Eats. It's a story about...a bed...that eats. Nuff said.

Order Death Bed The Bed that Eats here.

{Viva Pedro - The Almodovar Collection}

Our favorite Spanish director Pedro Almodovar broke into the art-house mainstream with manic dramedies about women and their various problems with men. This collection includes Talk to Her, Bad Education, All about My Mother, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Live Flesh, Flower of My Secret, Matador and Law of Desire.

Order The Almodovar Collection here.

{Twin Peaks - The Definitive Gold Box Edition}

Argueably one of the best television shows...ever! David Lynch's definitive Twin Peaks Gold Box Edition includes, for the first time ever on DVD, the original and the European version of the pilot. This 10-disc groundbreaking series will feature all 30 newly re-mastered episodes and is loaded with exclusive featurettes, new interviews, introductions and much more.

Order from Amazon.

{Heifer Organization}

Indeed I've saved the best for last. For those on your gift list who seem to have everything or who want for nothing (material wise) maybe donating in their name to the Heifer Organization would be a good idea. Heifer’s approach is to help people obtain a sustainable source of food and income. The "Charity Choice" Gift Card is another great option that you could redeem at any of 75 nonprofit organizations. The beauty of the Gift Card is that the gift card lets recipients support a cause that has special meaning to them. Get more info on the "Charity Choice' Gift Card here
