{Expatriate}
Big thanks to Carney over at Dew Process for sending me Expatriate's Double A Side EP titled Play A Part.
Sydney four piece Expatriate are scheduled to play SXSW and select LA/NYC dates. This band has been praised by NME, The Daily Record, Discorder Magazine, and Filter...so you really don't need to take my word for it.
Expatriate manage to find influence in all of Brit-pop's finest with hints of goth, glam and new wave scattered about. Being a big fan of all of those genres I'm intent on spreading the word about this band. Despite only having this Play A Part EP for a few days, it's had it on constant rotation. All four tracks are great, but "Play A Part" and "Only Wanna Love Ya" are undoubtedly Expatriate at their best. If their forthcoming debut album In The Midst of This is even half as good as this EP, then I'm very much looking foreward to hearing it.
Here's Expatriate's US gig dates:
March 8 Silverlake Lounge, Los Angeles
March 11 Mercury Lounge, New York City
March 12 Pianos, New York City
March 14, RED 7, SXSW, Austin, Texas
March 16, Aussie BBQ Brush Square Park, SXSW, Austin, Texas
March 17, Gene's PoBoys, SXSW, Austin , Texas
March 21, Indie 103.1 Passport Approved Live at The Gig, Los Angeles
You can listen to the Play A Part EP in its entirety on Expatriate's MySpace.
