{Off The Shelf}
{Electronic}

Electronic was the on-off project formed by New Order's Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr (of The Smiths). The duo had a minor hit with the song "Getting Away with It" back in '89, which featured both Sumner and Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys on vocals. Even though I'm not particularly crazy about every song on the album, there are enough moments when everything comes together. This album is essential for New Order fans, as it leans much more towards the style of their music. Electronic released three singles from this debut album: "Get the Message", "Feel Every Beat", and "Getting Away With It". A year later Neil Tennant made another guest spot on the single "Disappointed". Over the years Electronic released a couple more albums and while the pairing of this supergroup didn't surpase the brightest moments of the bands they will be most remembered for, there are definetly some songs that are worth seeking out. Here's a few of my favorites...

Rhino is releasing a Best Of Electronic CD shortly. (I stumbled across your blog while working on the liner notes for it.) It features all three singles from the first album, plus the Electronic cut "Gangster," and the non-LP single "Disappointed" that you mention as well.
