{The Notorious Bettie Page}
Essential viewing or not, that remains to be seen. There is however, a sexy new trailer up for HBO's film The Notorious Bettie Page, which tells the story of the 1950's pin-up queen who’s had rockabilly kats drooling for over 50 years. Her legendary photographs made her the target of a Senate investigation into pornography, and turned her into one of the first sex icons. The film stars Gretchen Mol as Page, which is a shame because this pretty girl ain't such a great actress. Although I must admit, even though she doesn't quite look the part, she looks more like Page than I would've ever imagined she could. The supporting cast includes David Strathairn and Lili Taylor. Press clippings describing the film as "a provocative exploration of sexuality, religion and pop culture." Well, alright. The film is rated R (for nudity, sexual content) so we should be seeing some recreations of those legendary topless pics. View the trailer here.
