{The Prix}

The Prix (pronounced "Pree") are a quartet from L.A. who've recently had "buzz-band" write-ups in the LA Times, the LA Weekly, and will be performing at the Spin/AddVice party at SXSW (please tell me I ain't the only person who won't be in Austin Texas March 10-19). The band recently completed debut album "Frix the Prix", which they are about to release with a little help from Echo Park Records.
"Frix the Prix" is filled with up-tempo rock with an emphasis on fun. My favorite track off the album is the hand clapping anthem "(It's All in the Way That You) Trip", although the new wave/glam flavored "Shoot Out the Lights" is a distant second. The Prix also get a little garage rock on "Sweet Love Volcano" (you can hear this one from The Prix official site) and do some power-pop on the wannabe radio hit "Top Ten".
Kate Sullivan of the L.A. Weekly wrote "'(It's All in the Way That You) Trip' is the most joyfully danceable rock & roll song we've heard in ages"...ditto. Listen for yourself:

The Prix will be announcing some shows in L.A. very soon so stay tuned, in the meantime be The Prix MySpace friend.
